Dr. Tim Cline, MCC, NBC-HWC
Tim is a graduate of Coach University, an International Coach Federation Master Certified Coach (MCC), and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). He is also a founder and past President of the ICF-Los Angeles Chapter, a past ICF assessor, and and currently serves on the board of directors of the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (formerly ICHWC). Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a PhD in Psychology, completed a medical school-based residency and fellowship in behavioral medicine, and has earned a black belt in karate.
Tim began his career in the environmental science and medical technology fields before transitioning to health psychology and behavioral medicine, where he conducted health behavior research and provided clinical services and teaching/training as a faculty member of three medical schools. In the late nineties Tim turned his focus to coaching and established an international practice with a home-base in Los Angeles.
After 10 years of full-time coaching, he returned to Pittsburgh to build a comprehensive suite of evidence-based lifestyle interventions and an NBHWC-approved health coach training program for one of the nation’s largest, fully-integrated health care systems. Tim's plan was to retire earlier last year and continue his passion part-time in private practice, but he got involved, through a grant, as a consultant to the CDC that is occupying most of his time. Tim is building a group coaching skills training program for CDC’s Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coaches to support their impact and outcomes.
