 Master Coaches

What is a Master?

"One who has attained great skill, person of rank or high learning, one who has become adept, an expert, an original whom others aspire to be like, one who has reached a level of excellence, one who is qualified to teach apprentices, a professional or artist who is regarded as great."

A Master Coach is all of those!

For Moore Master Coaching, the Master Coach has also achieved a high level of distinction. They have had years of experience, coached many clients and have a very successful coaching practice.

As a rule, the Master Coaches now featured on this series have also attained master certification from the International Coach Federation or have such a significant and distinguished body of work and experience that they are a true recognized master by other masters.

In addition, they have one or more of the following qualifications: are or have been a teacher, are or have been a mentor coach, have published a book, have created a unique process and/or started a school.

Anyone who has attained the level of "Master" is one to be held in the highest esteem. They are to be truly admired and respected for their dedication, perseverance, talent and contribution as well as for the example they set and the great learning that only they can provide. We are truly blessed.

Below you will first find the bios of our future guest Master Coaches (with more to come) followed by the Master Coach bios from the previous year. To see all previous Master Coaches and read about their calls please visit the past calls page.

I want to offer my deepest gratitude to these expert role models who have so graciously agreed to share their gift, their expertise, their wisdom and their experience

The journey of my life brought me to coaching at a time when I had come to the end of all I knew. Like the butterfly, I thought my ‘world was over’. I had come to a dead end. Going back to complete my teaching degree or further my counselling career were not options because both felt harmful to my spirit. I was exhausted and felt trapped. Then, one day, one of life’s wonderful magical moments happened. As I was leaving a little Greek coffee shop on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, BC, a wise woman on the front of a green colored magazine beckoned me. I heeded the call. I picked up and opened the “Success” magazine. There it was...an article introducing me to this newly emerging profession called Coaching. Immediately, my path opened up. All of the pieces of my life came together and within two months I had moved cities, started my business, had my first coaching client and was in coach training with the leading coach training school in the world. That was my turning point. That was my moment. It was Spring 1999.

Discovering the profession of Coaching, was significant to me and incredibly validating. I had always been searching for a certain feeling. I knew intuitively that when I was on the right path, I would feel a certain way.Like something would ‘click’ or fall into place inside me. Coaching made my life, all of my past decisions and me, make sense. Through coaching I have been able to express all the different facets of my personality, fulfill my insatiable desire to learn, grow and design my life through conscious choice. I work from home. I set my own hours. I am present for my husband and two children. I complete a day of coaching more energized than I was at the beginning of the day. My email inbox is a vessel for gratitude that I marvel at and appreciate daily.

My life’s purpose is to raise my children to be happy secure beings in the world, love my husband with all that I have and lead as many people as possible back to living a life filled with joy, ease and fulfillment. I lead people back to who they truly are; and magic starts happening from there.

I believe that every person has a story or memory that is a direct link to their authentic self.
I believe that we are all born with a unique soul design that is ours to express in this lifetime.
I believe in generosity, love and the resiliency of the human spirit.
I believe that life is not meant to be a constant struggle.
Bliss is always an option.

Jeanine Mancusi CPCC, MCC
Spiritual Master Coach

Thursday February 20, 2014 6-7pm EST

Jeanine is a Master Certified Coach (MCC and CPCC) and a Co-Director of Lucid Living.

“I want to live in the world you see.”

“This is what I said to Leza (Danly)at a training retreat for leaders of THE COACHES Training Institute. She was perceiving something I could not, but I could sense the realness and depth of it. It seemed she had keys that made life more loving and fun and deeply fulfilling. I wanted it for myself, and for my coaching clients.

“I asked Leza to create a class to teach me and a few others, which became the pilot of the first teleclass. Two years later, we decided to become partners and to craft a curriculum that would change lives. It is true that the best way to deeply learn something is to teach it. These fourteen years have accelerated my spiritual journey beyond what I could have imagined, and I’ve watched Lucid Living become a force of transformation in the life of countless others.”

Jeanine’s spirituality is rooted in her relationship to Nature. She is a passionate hiker and skier, and lives with her husband, Bob, in Nevada City, California.

The following are just some of the previous guest Master Coaches and their bios!

Carol Courcy NCOC, MCC
Emotional Agility Master Coach

December 9th, 2013 12-1pm EST
Special Holiday 3 Master Coach Call

Carol began earning her “stripes” as a coach in 1990 after three years of intensive study of ontological coaching. In 2000, Carol earned her MCC. Around that same time, came the realization of being a habitual self-sacrificing overachiever and like the weed kudzu, resentment had taken up residence in her emotional landscape.

While successful on the outside, inside she felt guilt and an ever present sense of inadequacy. She discovered she was not alone! In a business culture of "never enough and more is better" many of her hard working clients also felt pushed, rushed and obligated.

To counter act all this overdone striving, Carol invented emotional agility—the ability to leave any emotion we are over using—like  guilt or resignation--for better ways of being and doing-- like satisfaction and joy. Her goal? Easily moving in and out of emotions as needed! In 2012 Carol published her emotional agility step by step guide called SAVE YOUR INNER TORTOISE!

Carol believes we need to support the profession we are in and has been a member of the ICF since she received her first credential in 1990. She has also been a member of the ICF credentialing team for over a decade and continues to mentor coaches for their ICF credentials. Carol was a board member for ACTO (2005-2008) and the Director of Newfield Network's accredited coach training programs (2000-2007).

Carol Courcy, NCOC, MCC
Emotional Agility Master Coach

Thursday September 19, 2013 2-3pm EDT

Cat Williford, MCC
Modern Goddess Master Coach

Monday August 19, 2013 2-3pm EDT

Cat, master coach, is a pioneer in the field of Coaching and Coach Training, and received one of the first six certifications bestowed by the prestigious Coaches Training Institute.  She has appeared as a guest expert on The Maury Povich Show, been featured in the Los Angeles Times Valley section, and coached live on L.A.’s ABC Talk Radio.  Sought internationally as the ‘goddess wisdom coach’ Cat works with women executives and entrepreneurs in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Australia and the U.S.  Her clients report they gain clear calm thinking, visionary planning, strategic action, and unprecedented results.

In 1994, Cat created The Modern Goaddess workshop series and retreats in response to her own growing need to connect spiritually with other women and celebrate feminine energy in a testosterone driven world.  She defines the Modern Goddess as someone who balances creative resources and wisdom with the ability to make things happen in the material world.  Cat believes the key to healing all humanity’s woes lies in balancing the feminine and masculine energies in everyone.

Cat has trained and mentored over fourteen hundred coaches worldwide as a Supervisor and Program Leader for The Coaches Training Institute’s Certification program and as a senior faculty member of The Forton Group’s Coaching For Leadership internal coach program.

Dynamic Speaking Skills is one of Cat’s signature trainings, developed in 1998 in response to executives requesting support in delivering key messages effectively.  The program is constructed around the idea that powerful speakers inspire action with their words and inspiration comes from vision.  “Every time you open your mouth and speak, you create something.  What do you want to create?” she asks.

Cat’s Modern Goddess retreats and weekend getaways were designed for the busy professional woman in need of hearing her heart think.  The retreats serve three mandates:  relaxation, renewal and affordability.  From “Goddess at Sea” weekend cruises, Sedona pilgrimages, taking over a spa in Palm Desert, and venturing into the Redwoods together, participants learn about themselves and their communication styles while learning to embrace different approaches than their own.

A believer in advocacy and volunteerism, Cat is a charter member of the Women’s Roundtable of Los Angeles.  As Vice President of the Los Angeles Women’s Legislative Coalition, she addressed the California Legislature and Los Angeles City Council on issues ranging from domestic violence prevention to safe drinking water standards.  As Vice President of Women in Theatre, Cat was responsible for delivering an arts-based community outreach program for abused women and children, administering grant funding.

Cat holds the coaching profession’s highest accreditation of Master Certified Coach, as well as CTI’s Certified Professional Co-Active Coach designation, a BFA from Stephens College, and is initiated as a Master Reiki healer.  Cat is certain there is no one-size-fits-all approach and blends a wide array of tools in her coaching and training work utilizing multiple coaching models, astrology and numerology to MBTI and Gallup’s Strengths Finder 2.0.

Jan Elfline, EdD, MCC
Visual, Creative & Performance

Wednesday April 24, 2013 12-1pm EDT

In classrooms, and on calls, people turn lumps of thought into gold, like modern-day alchemists. They pull rabbits out of hats, and I get to watch them do it. Learning is magic.

In my days as a student, my strongest curiosity was at an improbable intersection — mathematics, engineering and art. I brought these together as a glassblower, studying with Joel Phillip Myers, and earning a Master of Science degree.

I was lucky and received a fellowship from the J Paul Getty Trust for my doctoral research, so the dissertation got finished. Ten years in academia followed, teaching artists at Illinois State University. In 1993 I left a safe job. In May, 2013, I will have had a coaching and training business for 20 years.

Creativity has interested me as long as I can remember, and I continue to puzzle over related questions: How is it that people are so inventive?  What sparks creativity?  How does a person craft an idea into something physical? What process in the mind leads to an invention, a musical composition, a manuscript, or a theatre production?

In addition to my EdD, I am a Master Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation and an NLP Master Practitioner and Trainer.  I have taught seminars on coaching and creativity in businesses and at private institutes in North America, Europe and Asia. Beginning in 2013, after 15 years of crossing oceans to teach, I have decided to stay closer to home.  I now teach near Chicago, St Louis and at Hopewell near Bloomington, Illinois.

I live in the countryside on a 36-acre property that came with an appropriate name, Hopewell.  My husband (and the delight of my life) Drake Zimmerman, keeps bees, hunts fossils, feeds birds and makes sculpture when he is not coaching people about how to have a relationship with their money.

"We have become a culture of short-term thought, perspective, and vision.  Because of this, there is less value in our culture for mastery in a particular craft or field. However, it is mastery that ultimately supports us in the long through-line of life. While mastery may involve specific ways of doing things, more importantly mastery is about perspective, outlook, understanding, and personal presence.  Mastery is a way of thinking and a way of being that then informs how we do things.  We could gain a lot by bringing forward the ideas of apprenticeship and mastery again into our culture.  In our apprenticeship, we learn about being present to the task at hand as well as the “presence” that we bring to that moment and task.  In our mastery, we recognize that learning is a life-long pursuit—that apprenticeship, on one level, never ends.  Our job as masters in this world is to keep an open mind and heart, pay attention to the service we are being asked for, and to stretch into the new levels of being and doing what the next level of service requires."

"That’s a problem we have as coaches—we don’t get to hear others, especially the great ones, do what they do.  That’s why your program is so important."
